And for the blogging…

So it’s really been some time since I’ve sat down and really blogged at length. And really I think it’s about time I blog about why I’m not blogging very much…
The most common reason I can think of for not blogging is because “I’m too busy.” Really if that were true I wouldn’t have time to slap a quick page up on guildwars.com wiki, find a cool registrar to experiment with, buy a new domain, or setup some new opportunities for myself. In fact…if I was too busy to blog one would think I was spending extra time in the office or playing an excessive amount of Guild Wars. Maybe I would be avoiding life altogether.
Another explanation for my apparent abscence could very well be “I’ve lost interest in online activities.” Really..this can’t be true at all. I put in, on average, 5 hours of Guild Wars everyday. I spend roughly 12-16 hours in front of a computer Monday-Friday and I never seem to get sick of it. I’m still involved in some of my own projects which I’m messing around with as well as trying to figure out the best way to…wait..that’s a secret.
Stop gap….and we’re running
Really I think my reason for not blogging is because I have an overall dissatisfaction for what I write. I’m not really that amused by myself. I don’t find myself to be impressive or my online medium to really offer me the creative outlets that I’m seeking. So what am I doing about it? Direction!
I’m doing a multitude of things.
- kowblog v4. Yes…that’s right. I’ve already changed the blog this year, I know, but there’s a very good reason why I’m changing it again: It’s not mine. Or…another way to say it is that like many sites on the internet I have pulled knowledge from someone else without spending the time slaving over my own code to make it work for myself. And I’m 110% sure that I have the ability. Plus I need the extra challenge and I need my personal blog to have all of my heart and soul into it.
- seekingglory.com. Another project? Sheesh…what are you doing now!?! Guild Wars fan site. The first goal of the project is to get the site, resources, and traffic up. There are some ideas coming into play afterwards which I’m not going to talk about now…maybe soon. Is this going to be another deadend project like your linux site…or all those gaming clan/guild websites before? No. The reason why is I’ve put a considerable amount of time into Guild Wars…3000 hours…and I think it’s overdue that I catalog my fun. I assume I will be playing rpgs in the future and this will be something fun to play around with.
- ordokow.com. Speaking about guild sites…yes, Ordo Kow is my Guild Wars guild. Maybe one day it will be a massive popular guild that leads an alliance and rules the world. Or maybe it will be a Guild Wars resource dump for the 4 of us who play regularly to keep track of everything we want/need/like in Guild Wars. And it will be a good test to see if I can implement sqlite the way I want.
I have a new friend in a paper shredder. Recently a box of my important papers got affected by water moisture and I need to go through and decide what I must keep, what I will scan and archive digitally, and what I will shred! Fun! Here’s my shredder friend, courtesy of leyelei:
There. I blogged. Oh yeah…and I changed the security again. Non-members can comment. Please do.
